The Commentary includes new information about the restoration of the Claxton Monument, the cause of Claxton's death and a newspaper report of Claxton's death. Ballarat Star, March 14th, 1888.

Significance

Claxton was responsible for the development of Lake Wendouree and the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.
