Rose series post card of the Olympic swimming pool in Stawell.
The Olympic pool was built in Cato Lake in Stawell, once called Victoria lake. In 1957 Cato Lake was emptied for construction of the Olympic pool and officially opened on 15.11.1958. Twenty seven years later In January 1985 the pool was found to be leaking and Borough Council in February banned further use of the pool. Eventually the Olympic pool was demolished in April 1988.
Physical description
Rose Series post card of the Olympic swimming pool, Stawell. The post card is of the Olympic pool with 3 people standing on the edges of the pool with what appears to be a pump maintaining the pool which is only half full. One of the men has a long pole holding up the hose of the pump. In the background is a line of trees.
