Prince Charles and Lacy Diana visited the district on their 1983 royal tour. The City of Bendigo held a procession and the royal couple watched from the balcony of the Shamrock Hotel with Sun Loong coming out to perform nine ceremonial bows.
This photograph was taken as Charles and Di disembarked from their flight at Strathfieldsaye where they were met by Brian and Barbara Keogh.
