Sarah Shillinglaw married Charles Edward Aldous in June 1880. In this image she is depicted without any wedding ring on her left ring finger and her hair style and dress is typical of the early 1870s.

Photographer William Bear operated from 221 Lygon Street, Carlton between 1873-1875.
