McKay Creek was the site of a power station where the employees lived in the camp while working there. Table tennis entertained them during their leisure time.
This activity is of historic and social significance and can be compared with activities of today especially as Mt Beauty was built as a construction town for the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme and is now a small town with the added influence of tourism.
