The new Ringwood mayor has changed the ball game in council deliberations over Eastland's expansion and the future of the Ringwood Bowling Club's Miles Ave site. On the casting vote of the new mayor, Cr Neil Macdonald, negotiations have been taken out of the hands of a special commitee and into full council.

The Ringwood RSL has come to the rescue of drought stricken farmers by scheduling an auction on Sunday November 20. But the RSL desperately needs items to be auctioned. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Queensland farmers, RSL President Mr Ron Burch said.

Maroondah Council will subdivide the former Ringwood Depot site and sell it. The council last week passed amendment 1.38 to rezone the land to light industrial, allowing the subdivision to go ahead. It would not reveal how much it expected for the land because of the tender sale process.

The Victorian Auditor General has found no major inconsistencies or financial implications for the new Maroondah Council in any deals between the former Ringwood Council and retail giant Coles Myer over the Eastland Shopping Centre Project. Howevber, the long awairted "Due diligence" report rel;eased on Monday by council reveals that because of the escalation in Ringwood Plaza project costs - from over $7.5 million in February 1993, to over 12.2 million last February - the Ringwood Trust has "short term liquidity problems".
