Alfred Landauer was Born in Vienna 13/06/1910. He was a commerical artist who arrived in Australia on board the "Dunera".

Watercolor and ink of three camp huts. Large trees at the rear of the huts. Several internees are reclining in chairs outside each hut. A guard tower is in the distance . A fence runs along the side of the painting and a garden and green grass follow the length of the fence.

Given to Acting Captain Austin Appleby by and internee. Used by the Appleby family for over 50 years. Originally sent out by the German Red Cross to POW's and internees in the Tatura area in 1943.

Ole Helsten was a Finnish merchant seaman, who was interned at Loveday SA and Graytown camps Victoria during WW2.

The newly married couple, Friedrich and Aline Vollmer (nee Zollinger) were Templers who were internees in Camp 3 Rushworth. They were married in camp.

Dr Carl von Brandenstein was born in 1909 in Hanover, Germany. He studied oriental languages and the history of religion at Berlin University (1928-1934) and Leipzig (1938-1939). His doctoral thesis was a dissertation on the iconography of Hittite gods. He was arrested in Persia in 1941 and sent to Australia where he was interned at Loveday Camp South Australia and in Camp 1 Tatura from January 1945 until his release in August 1946.
