Physical description

The painting depicts the Portland Port from an aerial perspective. The perspective is taken from the ocean looking down across the Port and into the town of Portland. Within the foreground is the ocean beyond the Main Breakwater, the Main Breakwater and the Port. Within the Port nine large ships are docked and another is being brought into the Port by two tugboats. The background features a distant view of the town of Portland and the landscape beyond the township. The work has a white wooden frame and glass.
