Physical description
The painting depicts a large body of water surrounded by hills and mountains. The work is predominantly grey with the calm grey water of the lake opposed by by the ominous cloudy grey sky. In the foreground is a grassy hill top with several large rocks. The background features a line of distant grey mountains. The work has a gilded ornate frame with no mount and exposed canvas.
