Weapon - Police Truncheon, c. 1860

Historical information

Alexander Carroll Dempster was born in Tipperary in 1834 and arrived in Australia in 1853. He joined the Police Force in 1857 and served until 1882 when he was discharged with failing eyesight. He died 14/11/1897

Physical description

Police truncheon, wooden, lead 'cage' around top 10cm, bottom 5 cm bound with cord - leather loop/strap. Belonged to Alexander Carroll Dempster.
