Thomas Hastie was the first Presbyterian minister of Buninyong and started the first school in Buninyong in 1848. The original photo was probably taken in 1887 on his 30th anniversary.
Significance
Thomas Hastie was the first schoolmaster in Buninyong, starting his own school plus ministering to the Presbyterian church.
