Book - BOOK FROM GALLIPOLI, Cassel & Company Ltd, "THE ANZAC BOOK", C 1916
A compilation of articles, stories, poetry and illustrations written by men of the ANZACS in Gallipoli. In Nov 1915 a committee was established to produce the publication with cash prizes offered after evacuation correspondents, Charles Bean and Arthur Bazely edited the contributions.
160 page soft cover book, brown in colour held by two large staples. Several front pages and one back page loose. Contents cover pictures, stories, poems and other writings set in the ANZAC Campaign.
Heading 'THE ANZAC BOOK". "Written and illustrated in Gallipoli by the men of ANZAC". "For the benefit of Patriotic Funds connected with the A.N.Z.A.C."

These 35 photographs were taken at an Army Survey Regiment Open Day at Fortuna Villa, Bendigo on the 24th of February 1990. This occasion was one of several events held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. Although historical tours of Fortuna occurred on a regular basis, this was the first technical open day since 1972. The Royal Australian Survey Corps recognised that an Open Day was the best way for the local community in Bendigo to gain an insight into the unit’s important role as Defence’s map production agency, its technical equipment, and its economic importance to Bendigo. It also gave them an opportunity to tour through historic Fortuna Villa. This occasion is covered in more detail in page 143 of Valerie Lovejoy’s book 'Mapmakers of Fortuna – A history of the Army Survey Regiment’ ISBN: 0-646-42120-4. Refer to items 6434.27P and 6436.18P for more photos of the Open Day taken inside Fortuna, the garden areas and production areas of Lithographic Squadron. Photo prints of some of these photos were scanned and catalogued in items 6247.30P and 6291.6P.

White Square steel sign with hole in each corner on front and image of a fighting rooster (red and yellow) over the number 21 in purple. Surrounded by two concentric circles with the identification of the unit also in purple. All wrapped in clear plastic on back a stamp saying who made the steel. Some codes and dates.

1. Badge awarded to soldiers wounded in action during WW2. 2. Honour Cross or Hindenburg Cross created in 1934 to commemorate service of German people during WW1. Under Hitler was the only official service decoration to be worn.
1. Original egg shaped WW2 wound badge. Edges have flower garland. In middle is a German Infantry helmet with a Swastika over two crossed swords. Dark grey metal and pin on back. 2. Replica of WW1 German Honour Cross. Brown metallic badge with two crossed swords over a cross (Hindenburg Cross). A ring on top to hang on a ribbon 1914-1918. In centre of Circle of flowers.
