This tile has been made into a wall hanging by the attachment of fine wire at top to two of the curled feet.

Physical description

A small Wessel decorative white ceramic tile or trivet with a white porcelain type top depicting a coloured map of the Mosel River and surrounding towns in Germany. There is a twisted thin gold frame around it with rounded feet in the corners.

Inscriptions & markings

On the front at the top of the tile is written - 'Die Mosel von KOBLENZ bis TRIER'. On the back is the manufacturer's stamp in raised letters 'Wessel Made in Germany with a crown on top of it'. There is a number '9, 6 tiny dots, K6 2 more dots, 5'
