Physical description

A faded, badly damaged black miniature leatherette antique hardcover book, The Book of Common Prayer. The Church of England together with The Psalter or Psalms of David. On the front cover and the spine is stamped in gold lettering - Common Prayer. At the bottom of the spine is printed in gold: London. Underneath the title on the front are five tiny crowns in a line. At the back there are Forms of Prayer, The Form and Manner and other prayers. The pages have gilt edges. 355Pp but some are missing at the end. On the right front end paper is a bookplate from St Hilda's Sunday School , Macclesfield with the award to Ada ? 1904.

Inscriptions & markings

On the printed bookplate inside the front is: 'St Hilda's Sunday School Macclesfield. Presented to Ada ? By Mr. J. Brodriek, on St Hilda's Day 1904, in memory of his mother, and the interest she took in the church. Some of the writing has been torn so is unknown.
