Historical information

The first typewriters were placed on the market in 1874.It includes both upper and lower case letters via a 'shift' key and has a QUERTY layout.

Significance

Used by typists working in the office for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme.

Large heavy typewriter. Rusty condition 1926 ? Metal frame with black paint
