Premier Town Awards are awarded by the Victorian State Government to regional communities that best protect and enhance their environment through innovative initiatives. The award recognizes success in litter prevention, waste management and environmental projects and is designed to encourage tourism.
In 1982 - 1985 Bendigo was named Victoria's Premier Town and an official dinner was held at the Town Hall, Bendigo on October 5, 1985.
Councilor Peter Mansell was the Mayor during this period (1983- 84) and commissioned this wall hanging to commemorate this achievement.

Physical description

Wall hanging featuring the blue and yellow poppet head logo with text. Fringing on lower edge. Loops and dowl on top edge for hanging.
