'R. H. Baron' visited Waverley during leave. His Uncle and Florrie lived near here. Waverley was the site of a battle during the First Baron's War 1215 - 1217.

This yearly effort was conducted from 12.11.1998 - 12.12.1998. At the bottom of each page are details re pick up and delivery of tickets and stocking. The raffle was conducted from 3 different selling points. The names on the roster are a who's who of the RSL at the time, except for two names all the sellers were WW2 era members being a list of President current, ex Presidents, Life members, Committee and notables. The hand written notes were by Jack Barnes OAM. Refer Cat No's 8130P & 8220.

These tickets were sold from 12.11.1996 - 13.12.1996 and drawn on 16.12.1996 with the results in the Bendigo Advertiser on 18.12.1996. The proceeds of this yearly effort was in aid of the Bendigo RSL Patriotic Building Fund. These raffles are believed to have began pre 1950 and ran until 1999. Refer Cat No's 8130P and 8221.

A large amount of the receipts are for RSL Membership being 10/- (Schillings). There are many receipts to businesses and other groups, to name a few, Hall hire Various amounts, Billiards, Tomato growers, book, Bendigo Trotting Club, South Bendigo Club, Teachers Training College. The figures range from one pound one schilling - six pounds. The phone No for the Bendigo Sub Branch then was a simple "95"
Nine Receipt books, seven have front and rear card covers, two have no front cover, six have readable hand written text on the front, 3 have none, all pages are pink colour, there is a small amount of pages missing over the nine, one has quite a few missing, two have a light blue binding the rest are dark blue.

This set of 30 black and white photographs were taken at the Army Survey Regiment’s parade rehearsal held at the Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo on the 27th of June 1985. The rehearsal was for the Freedom of Entry parade held 1-2 weeks later in 1985. The exact date for the Freedom of Entry parade is not known. The Freedom of Entry to the City of Bendigo was an honour first conferred by the Bendigo City Council to the Army Survey Regiment in 1970. The Freedom of Entry parade in 1985 was the fourth time the unit exercised its right of freedom of entry. The Regiment also exercised its Freedom of Entry with anniversary parades in 1977, 1980 and 1995. Refer to items 6020.8P, 6021.25P, 6248P, 6266, 6409.2 and 6430.39P for more Army Survey Regiment Freedom of Entry photographs, documents and certificates. These renovations were first discussed by the Bendigo RSL in 1962 - 1963. This Document is headed, “Specifications of Workmanship and Materials required for Painting and Renovations etc, at R.S.S.A.I.L.A Hall, Pall Mall, Bendigo” There are 3 parts to the documents. First section has 22 parts, everything from “Tender - Insurance - Materials - Liability - Condition of Contract to the use of Sanitary conveniences. Second section has sections re “Carpenter and Joiner - Brick work - Plastering - Electrician - Painter and Glazier”. Each has sections under re their work to be done. Third section is a technical drawing of the Soldiers Memorial Institute minus the Main Hall, it shows scopes of work. The main works covered a new false ceiling in the Office, a new front door entrance to the Foyer in a different position, exhaust fan in the Billiard room, removal of a gate at the Stairwell entrance, fire place repairs, adding chair rails to walls to foyer, Committee room. These works were carried out. There was a false ceiling in the Meeting room but there was no mention re this in the above plans. This ceiling was removed during the 2016 - 2018 major renovations to the SMI. The false ceiling in the Office was removed in a major renovation to the room in 2011 - 2012 and taken back to original.

These Constitutions dated 14.11.1952 with the name's , "A.V. Palmer - President" (Bendigo RSL) "N.D. Wilson - President - Vic Branch R.S.S.A.I.L.A". The small booklets were headed "Rules of the Bendigo Returned Servicemen's Club - 1956" As far back as 1950 there was discussion within the Sub Branch re a Club in suitable premises. A property was purchased being 11 McKenzie Street Bendigo with the title dated 9.2.1951, the facility opened on 1.6.1951 but without a Liqueur Licence. Years followed with a failure to be granted one. Finally the facility was sold to Bendigo Legacy and they occupied the building on 7.6.1959 which became known as "Legacy House". This is a very brief version of the events from the Book by Murray Poustie, refer Cat No 8093, The history of the Bendigo RSL. .3) The Rules of the Welfare Committee were in .1) folded in half. There is 6 paragraphs with a total of 18 Clause's.

No cuffs at bottom of legs, no pockets. 3. Hat, two tone green with RACT Badge - peaked brim. 4. Belt - light green. No buckle, has a press stud arrangement at one end.

Ribbons are = Reserve Forces Medal 2 Rosettes (15 years plus 2 x 5 year extras) and National Medal. "Joseph Thomas Jones" was in the Bendigo CMF Unit for many years. 6 Coy RAASC - 15th TPT Sqn.
1. Jacket Black. Four pockets. Top pockets held shut with brass buttons. Gold Sgts stripes on arms. Sleeve cuffs have two brass buttons each. Chest parts held shut 5 brass buttons. Epaulettes have a brass button each. The vertical type collar has an RACT badge on each side. Ribbons - Qty 2. 2. Trousers, black. Two white stripes down outside of leg. Fly is zipper type.
Jacket has "Jones" written in it. Trousers have "J.T. Jones" .

RSL Funeral services conducted by the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch and Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch for their departed members. .1) The first entry in the book is 27.10.1965 and the last on 27.12.2008. A large amount of the entries were written by Jack Barnes OAM during his 43 years as Secretary of the Sub Branch. (Refer Cat No 8040). The vast majority of the funerals were conducted by the President at the time, Committee members or members who were heavily involved with the Sub Branch. It's virtual who's who of Presidents, Life members and notables. 1988 saw the most funerals conducted during that year being 60, other figures varied from mid 20's to mid 50's per year. One notable funeral Volunteer was John Balsillie MBE. (Refer Cat No 118.5) Between 2.1.2007 - 27.12.2008 there was 80 funerals with John conducting 78 of them. There is an interesting addition of one funeral by Jack Barnes on 31.1.1968 was that it was (111 degrees). .2) The list on the sheet with a note, "For Cindy" who was the BDRSL Office Person at the time. these were for 2007, there was 19 on the sheet with only 9 in the book, 7 of the names have a red tick beside. The sheet was written by John Balsillie. John had conducted funerals for many years pre 2007 and for more years after.
.1) Exercise book, cover red & white with green text central of front, section of front page missing, pages are blue ruled lines, columns added in red or blue pen, 3 columns per page with year at the top, columns have the deceased persons name, funeral date, person who conducted the RSL funeral, some pages the persons unit served with has been added. all entries are hand written on red or blue pen. .2) Sheet of paper with hand written names in blue pen with month and date, some have a red tick beside.

"ROYAL AUSTRALIAN ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS" shoulder epaulettes with silver and red metal crown rank insignia = MAJOR. Four front pockets. Two top patch pockets with button and two metal press studs on flap. Green and yellow service Ribbon above left pocket. Two lower inset pockets with button down flap. Two metal belt keepers insitu. Buttons - gold colour plastic with shank and metal ring. Buttons have raised emblem - crown and shield with three cannons. Brown colour cotton sateen fabric lining. No manufacturers label. 2. Belt - fabric with gold colour plastic buckle, leather belt keepers and brown plastic buttons. 3.Trousers - fabric with fob pocket, two side pockets and one inset back pocket with concealed button down flap. Button missing. Green colour polyester fabric libning, cream colour cotton waistband lining. Metal zipper fly with plastic button. White cotton label on waistband. 4. Lanyard - red colour cotton cord with knots.

These receipts to the Bendigo RSL Women’s Auxiliary were selected to show a broad range of business’s they dealt with in their fund raising. These cover the years 1963 - 1965. They cover Butchers, Bakers, Grocery stores, Jewellers, Cafe’s, Dairies, Florists, Department stores, Nurseries, Watch makers to name a few.
Folder grey covers with plastic sleeve inserts, front cover has a taped on yellow laminated paper with text in black. The contents are a selected amount of receipts from Bendigo Business’s to the Bendigo RSL Women’s Auxiliary.

Cash and Cheque deposit book Australian and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd used by the Bendigo RSL Womens Auxiliary. The first entry is on 6.11.1975 for $389.30 being for cards, catering and a donation. The last is 2.12.1977 for $51.00 being for a donation.
Deposit book blue covers ANZ Banking Group, all print in black, entries are blue, all pages left are duplicate carbon copies, there are a number of blue credit slips pinned to pages, the blue carbon paper at the end of the book are gone, pages are stamped in a red ANZ stamp.

Bendigo RSL Womens Auxiliary, page headings hand written are either, Income, Expenditure or Receipts. first entry is February 1959 the last December 1965. The loose sheets are Receipts & Expenditure for a year ending in December. First entry for year 1962, 2nd 1963, 3rd 1964, 4th 1965. Three years are missing.
Account book, cardboard covers, front cover is a faded mottled red and white the rear near as new, front has a piece of paper with type in red and hand written in blue, pages are blue ruled lines with vertical red and blue lines. Entries are in blue pen, 4 loose typed in black sheets are placed through out the book.

These Certificates recognized the work of Miss F. Hutchinson (Florride)and Miss D Hutchinson (Doll) in reaching 10 years of Volunteer work for the Eaglehawk RSL Ladies Auxiliary dated 21.5.1960. It appears that there has been a misprint as "Miss D" was actually Hanna, Doll being known as is Florrie’s sister. Refer Cat No 8211 re Hanna. Refer Cat No 8200P for photos of both.

This certificate was awarded by the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch to Miss H. Hutchinson (Hanna) on 17.5.1946 in Appreciation and loyalty to Service personnel as a Member of the Eaglehawk Ladies Auxiliary during the War years. The Auxiliaries efforts abled the furnishing of the Club rooms and raise 230.00 Pounds for the Returned Soldiers Distress Fund. Hanna was awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal in 1978 Refer Cat No 8212.2 for her Sister Florrie and Photo Cat No 8200P.
Certificate on cardboard cream coloured with ornate edging in red, blue and brown, all printed text in black & blue, covers the years 1939 - 45, dated at the bottom.
