Historical information

The photograph was taken some time after the end of World War 1. It was a Welcome Home reception for those men who had enlisted to fight in World War 1 and were lucky to return home. The reception took place in the Sunbury Fire Station which was located in Evans Street.

Significance

At the end of World War 1, the local Sunbury community held a number of Welcome Home receptions to acknowledge the part played by many local men and women in World War 1.
