Power Launcher

Historical information

Used for planned burning operations.
The power launcher was developed at the Altona Fire Centre for discharging incendiary capsules /flares a distance of 75 to 100 metres into forest fuels from a control line. This allowed the operator to safely discharge incendiaries with firm footing and have control as to how much fire was required per operation by the number of incendiaries discharged.
But due to manufacturing issues the launchers were overtime replaced by the hand held flares contained in safety instructed cardboard tubes. Approximately 8 flares are intermittently discharged from each tube.An inbuilt whistle confirms when the last flare has been discharged.
