About

DEECA is a Victorian State Government Department with responsibility for the sustainable management of national parks, state forest and other reserves. The Department and its predecessors were formed in the 1980s as a result of the merger of separate statutory authorities including the Forests Commission of Victoria and National Parks Service. The museum collections of the Department reflect its long involvement in forest conservation and sustainable utilisation as well as bushfire prevention and control.

Our collection

The collection comprises historic artefacts and items associated with the forest and fire management responsibilities of the Department and its predecessors including the Forests Commission of Victoria.
