Black and white wooden framed framed photograph of Hugo Kretzschmar, blacksmith, taken about 1930 outside his premises 'Orange & Kretzschmar Coachbuilders, Blacksmiths and Farriers' in Speight Street Newport. He is standing in front of a two wheeled cart with the wording 'E.M.Ladd Ironmonger and Grocer, Phone Newport ? '(number obscured by wheel).

Inscriptions & markings

On front of photograph: "Hugo Kretzchmar [sic] about 1930 outside his premises/Coachbuilder & Blacksmith Speight Street Newport/ Donated by Mrs Nell Waye of Williamstown".
Handwritten note on back: "In partnership with Mr Orange at Speight Street Newport 1920/30. Then behind 'Ferry Motors' corner Grindlay Street and North Road Newport, opposite Mr Ladd's on corner of North Road and Melbourne Road previously Doig and Hall's grocery and ironmonger opposite Newport Post Office which closed 16 May 1994".
