Historical information

Used by those wishing to make bullets and ammunition. Lead would have been used to make the shots with this tool.

Physical description

Rusted iron shot mould with two handles similar to callipers. There is an oval shaped ball of metal at one end which opens in the middle to allow molten material to be placed inside for casting into lead shot. There is a hole at the top of the oval ball which allows the molten metal to be poured in. Once cooled the oval is opened up and the shot can be removed. The object is heavily rusted.
