This pipe was probably owned by a Boer War veteran, who carved the names of places he knew while he was in South Africa.

Physical description

Wooden tobacco pipe with Boer War-related carved inscriptions around a central lozenge shape on the pipe bowl and on the sides of the bowl. The bowl is curved in Full-Bent Billiard style with a sterling silver collar with a makers mark (BRB in a diamond shape), Birmingham 1850. The mouthpiece is curved and made of black vulcanite.
