Summary

The author draws on personal diaries, interviews, service records, hospital disries and autobiographies to create an absorbing and meticulously constructed book showcasing the breadth and significance of the contributions Army nurses made during World War I. In becoming part of the AIF these women fashioned the role of the Australian military nurse
