The photograph was taken in the older section of Sunbury Cemetery, which was laid out in denominal sections in 1862. It replaced the building of a cemetery that was planned at The Gap. Some of the cemetery's older graves and headstones are along the avenue in the image.
Significance
Sunbury Cemetery is one of the earliest cemeteries to be established and still functioning in the area
