Photograph, Rosa McCall, Children's Memorial, April 2014

Historical information

In 2005 a memorial was erected in the Sunbury Cemetery in memory of the children who had lived and died and buried in unmarked graves, while being inmates at the Industrial School, which was located within the former Asylum grounds. The Sunbury Family History Society raised some funds, which went towards a monument and plaque listing the names of all those children and set in a garden bed at the start of the Children's walk.

Significance

The memorial listing the children's names gives recognition to those children who were buried in unmarked graves within the Sunbury Cemetery.
