Historical information

In 1860 Scottish settlers commissioned the Presbyterian church in Buninyong and the foundation stone was laid in March 1860 by Mrs. Celia Scott of "Mount Boninyong" one of the earliest settlers in the district. In 1971 the church combined with the Methodist Church to form the Buninyong United Church and then in 1977 became part of the Uniting Church of Australia.

Significance

This church represents the impact of Scottish settlers in the district and their emphasis on religion and education, many of the church's fine stained glass windows depict depict various members of the Scott family and the Rev. Thomas Hastie.
