Historical information
Edward and Alexander were crowned in 1902 and it is believed that this long marker was used as the marker in the bible used at that ceremony in Westminster Abbey.
Significance
A significant and rare commemorative item of the coronation in 1902 of Edward VII and Alexandra. Ballarat had earlier named one of its bandstands the Alexandra Bandstand so popular was the princess, now queen.
Physical description
A long cream silk marker in the style of a stole for a lectern bible with two matching red panels sewn to each end with the monograms of Edward and Alexander, crowns, shamrocks, thistles & roses embroidered into panels.
