Reproduction of a photo that appeared in The Ballarat Courier November 1997 of the poppet head of an operating mine and mine personnel in the 19th century.

Inscriptions & markings

Poppet Head: Do you know where this poppet head was and who is in the crowd below? John Sandford believes it could be at a mine on the old Buninyong Estate, although he said others thought it could be the De Souza mine about 200m away. The picture shows Mr. Sandford's grandfather, who died in 1913.
