Summary

Rookwood Cemetery Transcriptions
compiled by the Society of Australian Genealogists
Between 1981 and 1992, the Society of Australian Genealogists transcribed headstone inscriptions in Rookwood Cemetery - the tinal resting place for over 600,000 Australians, located in Sydney's west. Opened in 1867, Rookwood is now the largest working cemetery in the southern hemisphere.
The transcriptions that resulted from that mammoth 11-year project - over 235,000 names in all - have been brought together in one database for the first time on this CD.
Searches by surname, forename, inscription or year of death are possible and each entry shows the complete transcription and grave location.
