Historical information

Limb Holders, also known as Limb Restraints, are designed to limit the movement of wrists and/or ankles in patients assessed to be at risk of disrupting life-saving treatment, pulling lines/tubes, exacerbating skin conditions, compromising wound site integrity, or self-injury.

In our collective experience, we used these types of restraints to ensure patient safety, to minimise self harm by confused patients (for many reasons - head injury, post op, drug induced) who would otherwise have interfered with treatments (remove intravenous, remove dressing) or fall out of bed.
