Weeklong celebration of the dedication / consecrtation of the Research Church of Transfiguration.
Originally a small weatherbopard building, on a site almost opposite the primary school.
Services were held in the church for almost 70 years.
The building was burnt out in 1965 and Miss Elizabeth Doney donated a new larger site consisting of 3 house blocks on the east (high) side of Main Road.
The foundation stone was laid in August 1966, and the church was dedicated in December 1966.
About 30 local families were involved in the rebuilding.
Although dedicated in 1966, it could not be consecrated until the debt was paid off.
