Historical information

The photograph is an image of the township of Sunbury taken c1873. The two people sitting on the hillside are overlooking the Jackson Creek from the east end of the town and looking towards Craiglee vineyard. Rupertswod Mansion was not built and there are few houses.

Significance

This is one of the earliest photograph taken of Sunbury, 37 years after Europeans settled in the area.
