The station was originally called the Steiglitz Road Station and was erected in1862 as part of the Geelong - Ballarat line

Significance

The Moorabool Station is one of a notable group of stylistically similar railway stations on the Geelong- Ballarat line which includes the structures at Bannockburn and Meredith
