Physical description

A brown decorated hardcover book for young children titled Prattles, with black outlines of flowers and columns surrounding a coloured illustration of three girls sewing. The broken spine has dirty cream tape attached. The frontispiece is a coloured illustration of a young girl playing with a baby in its cradle near a fireplace with the heading 'The little Mother'. The title page has 'Prattles' printed at the top with two toddler girls chiding each other, surrounded by a black circle. The publisher details are listed at the bottom of the page. There are stories and poems throughout. There are several full page coloured illustrated plates.No pagination for this thick book.

Inscriptions & markings

Most of the illustrations have been coloured by a young child. Underneath the two toddlers illustrated on the title page have two names written underneath in fine black ink:' Bonnie' and 'Gwen'.
