Historical information
This set of eight photographs of superseded AUTOMAP 1 equipment was taken at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo, circa 1983. The photos were taken in one of the Q-store buildings. Introduced in 1975, the AUTOMAP 1 computer assisted cartography and mapping system was the first computer assisted cartography and mapping system utilised by the Survey Corps and the first system used by Australian mapping organisations. The replacement AUTOMAP 2 system achieved operational status in August 1983.
