Historical information

In 1999 Sunbury Primary School students and staff relocated from the building in Macedon Street, which had been a school site since 1873, to a refurbished heritage building at Jacksons Hill. A modern building replaced the portable classrooms but the Federation style school building remained on the Macedon Street site. The Sunbury Cobaw Community Health Centre and Distinctive Options are in the new building in Macedon Street.

Significance

Victorian Government institutions have functioned from the Macedon Street site since 1873, when the first State School was built on the site.
