THE 2025 Whitehorse History Society AGM presentation on the history of the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary since 1840's was given by Anne PAYNE on 16 August. Gardiner's Creek, the Blackburn Lake headwaters) was dammed in 1889 to supply water for the fruit and flower orchards, increase surrounding property values and recreation use. Anne describes the establishment and development of the Lake environment, environmental studies and its later conservation.
The talk is illustrated by photographs and was recorded by the WHS.
