Historical information

Before George Lysaght enlisted, he was a stud groom in Lilydale,
George enlisted on December 16, 1914 at the age of 19. He embarked from Melbourne on May 28, 1915 on HMAT Persic (A34). He arrived in Tel-el-k Egypt where he was appointed as a driver.
He transferred to Alexandria, Egypt and then to France in July 1916 he transferred to the !st Anzac Army Corp and joined the 13th Light Horse Regiment. He returned to Australia on Ma the 1914-15y 11, 1919 on the Zealandia.
He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
