Historical information
This is an early photograph of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church which is in Macedon Street, Sunbury. The Catholic Bishop of Melbourne, Rev. D J Gould laid the foundation stone on 13th December 1864. Since then the stone cannot be located on its original site. Later the church was renamed Our Lady of Mount Carmel to avoid confusion as the Anglican Church was named St. Mary's Church of England.
