This work was completed by Mrs A Wilson of Elwood.
This unfinished work was given to Mrs T Williams , who was not a Guild member, by her husband's Aunt, the wife of the late Dr. William Aitken.
Dr. Aitken practised medicine at Stawell and later lived at "Toybay" Toorak and practised in that suburb.
Mrs Williams was told that the work was over 100 years old when it was given to her 30 years ago. ( c. 1842)
Members of the Aitken family were still living in Victoria. (per letter of 1972)

Physical description

Canvas work and bead work stool cover. Floral design on a blue background. Star shaped beading design on ends surround floral motifs and beaded scalloped edges around central designs. Beads are black, white, silver and grey.
