Historical information

A charming example of 18th century Georgian silk embroidery. All the sprigs have a small piece of parchment behind them, onto which they are embroidered. Lining has been replaced, and a viewing area left for study purposes. In 1930 this piece was used as a christening shawl.

Physical description

18th Century cream satin with coloured silk floral sprays placed regularly all over the cloth, with a floral border. Some metal threads are also used.
