Historical information

Purchased in 1900 in Russia by the late Miss C. Sargood. Previously uncatalogued, held in the Collection for some years. This method of enamelling is now a lost art, as the artist died before he could pass on the technique of his process.

Physical description

Believed to be a wedding portrait. Man holding bread and salt. Woman in red, orange and green costume holds container of eggs and a chicken. Black ground and frame.
