Historical information

See Rehman, Sharry & Nahead Jafri "The Kashmiri Shawl" Page 286, extract in Archives .
The term "watachikan" appears to be a specific term used in reference to a style of sozni (couching) embroidery. It is used alongside other stitches like parallel darning, overlapping darning, herringbone, knot, and buttonhole stitches to create intricate designs, often on items such as Pashmina shawls.
