Historical information

The Ecce Homo Convent (also known as the Convent of the Sisters of Zion), located in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.
The name "Ecce Homo" is Latin for "Behold the Man" the traditional biblical words spoken by Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus to the crowd.

Physical description

Small cream handkerchief with a needlelace corner with 3 eyelets, covered rings, and a fine needlelace knotted edge.

Inscriptions & markings

Contained in envelope with following inscription "This beautiful hanky was made, worked by the little orphans in the Ecce Homo Convent in Jerusalem, a little souvenir from the Holy Land for our little Muriel with love from F.A. Howan, July 5th, 1942
