Historical information

The decorative brick work is on the chimney at the boiler house at the former Sunbury Asylum. In its day the boiler house provided heated water for both heating and general use throughout the entire complex. Since its closure, it has been an arts and cultural centre for Sunbury community.

Significance

The tall chimney can be seen from many parts of the asylum grounds and reflects the craftsmanship of the men who built it.
