Historical information
The building with the tall chimney was the Boiler House at the former Sunbury Asylum. It was built in 1920 and using steam power, it supplied hot water and heating throughout the complex, using coal and briquettes. When the Asylum closed down in 1992, the Boiler House then became an arts centre for the local community.
Significance
The tall chimney can be seen from many vantage points in Sunbury and is of local heritage significance because of its structure and design.
