Certificate awarded to Alfred Hospital student nurses on successful completion of their training. Certificates (with some changes in format) were awarded from 1882 until 1992, when the school of nursing closed

Of significance to AHNL as all nurses who graduated from the Alfred Hospital school of nursing received a certificate
Physical description
Black leather-bound folder. Decorative border on front and back cover [stamped in gilt] on front cover are the words 'NURSE'S /CERTIFICATE/' bar/'ALFRED HOSPITAL' [stamped in gilt] Inside is the certificate Alfred Hospital Training School for Nursing qualifying the recipient to act as a 'SKILLED MEDICAL & SURGICAL NURSE' . Opposite is a black and white illustration of the Alfred Hospital [ca 1882] above which there is a red pattee cross centered in a banner with the motto 'UBI NON EST MULIER IBE INCEMISCIT AIGER'
