Mr Roy Mountford "Monty" Vale, 65, was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1967 and sat for one term before losing to Labor. In the 1973 election for the Court of Disputed Returns ruled that his five vote win over the the sitting Labor candidate, Mr Robert Fell, was void. Mr Vale won the subsequent by-election. Monte Vale was a former councillor of the Shier of Diamonf Valley and Shire President in 1971-72.
