Soccer was a popular sport especially in Europe. Mt Beauty was able to field a team in the local competition.

Significance

Mt Beauty is in the Kiewa Valley. In 1959, there were some very good soccer players as many in the workforce for the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme were from Europe.

Physical description

Very dark blue pure wool blazer. The top dection is lined as are the long sleeves which have 1 silver button at the end. (There is another button in one of the pockets.) The pocket on the left has a sewn patch with "Mount Beauty" above a mountain in front of which is a soccer ball. Underneath the mountain "Soccer Premiers / 1959 / "Bor Dist. Assoc" ?District Association". there are 2 buttonholes at the front but no buttons at the front. There are pockets on each side near the bottom..
